Windows 7 Installation

In this post we will cover how to do a clean install of your Windows 7.
First thing to do is backup your drivers and all of your important documents.
To do so first read my post on how to backup and restore your device drivers.
Make sure that you save all of your PC documents to safe location. PC Related blog suggest to save docs either using USB Drive or internal HDD partition other than windows. It is your choice, just do it right !

Once done with backup you will need Windows 7 setup DVD.
If you have the original DVD that you got with your computer than most likely you would not need to backup drivers or anything since everything is already included with. But if you have bought new Windows 7 DVD than you might need some additional drivers. Now you should  follow these steps:

  • Input your windows DVD and restart your computer
  • Boot from CD/DVD on startup, it is usually F12 or F8 depending on what hardware you have.
  • If you cant get quick boot menu than try going to BIOS and set CD/DVD as your first boot option.
  • You will be asked to boot from CD/DVD just press any key to continue, wait for Windows to load and start new windows setup
  • You will be asked to choose language , time and currency format as well as keyboard input method
  • Make sure you click "install now" and accept the licence terms
  • Choose Custom ( advanced ) Install and than chose the partition where to install Win7
  • On that same page click "drive options (advanced)" and format the drive
please note all your data on selected drive will be deleted
  • Once you are done formatting click next to begin copying new windows files
  • Your computer might restart couple of times during installation please make sure that you do not interrupt the process. While starting up don't press any keys let the windows boot through.
  • If you click to boot from CD/DVD again than you will restart the process- so don't do it
  • Once windows boot through you will be asked to input couple of more details such us:
User name,Computer name, password, product key ( key should be received with Win7 DVD )
  • Use recommended settings for configuring windows updates - this will install updates automatically
  • Set your date and time settings - timezone
  • If you have internet connection you will be asked to set your connection as Home,Work or Public network. You could be asked for homegrup sharing you can skip that unless you want to enable sharing on your PC. That's it! your installation is complete :)
