Computer drivers are necessary files that are required for your hardware to communicate with your system properly. Sometimes drivers don't work as intended so manufacturers make updates to clear bugs and other problems. Also while your windows is installing updates, under optional updates you can choose to install updates for drivers that your operating system recognized. Drivers are needed for all your computer components to work properly, network cards, video adapters, sound cards, printers, scanners etc.
You can check Devices and Drivers installed on your compute with right click on "My Computer" choose "Properties" and click on "Device Manger" tab in top-left area of that window and you will see all devices installed to your PC.
For example if I want to update my graphic card drivers I would click on "Display Adapters" and right click on installed video card. Click on "Update Driver Software , make sure you are connected to the internet choose to update automatically and wait for drivers to download.
