User Account Settings

User Account is collection of information that tells windows which data you can access , what changes you can make, personal preferences such as desktop background and screen saver.
User Account lets you share one computer to many users while  having your own file and settings, and it can be accessed by username and password. There are three types of accounts:

  • Administrator account for most control over a computer and it should be used only when necessary
  • Standard account for for daily use
  • Guest account for people who need temporary use of computer

Each type gives users a different level of control over the computer. To create an account go to Start - Control Panel - User Account and Family Safety - Add or Remove User Accounts and than click on Create New Account. Type in the name of your account and chose type off account.

It is recommended to use strong passwords for your accounts and to chose Standard User Account Instead of an administrator account. Standard account can help to protect your computer by preventing users to make changes that will affect every user on that computer such as deleting files required for windows or any other application to work properly. Standard account can do almost anything that administrator can do but if you want to do something that will affect all users such as changing security settings or installing/uninstalling some software Windows might ask you to provide an administrator password.

Click on the account you just created to enter password and make some other changes such us change the picture, setup parental controls, change the account name and type or delete account.
