Aero Desktop is feature that will make windows and taskbar looks like translucent glass with better animations and new colors. Aero Desktop also includes taskbar previews for your open windows.
When you point to taskbar button you will see preview of that window and content inside. Also when you are trying to switch between windows using Alt+Tab you will see live previews of each open program.

To turn on Aero Desktop you will have to check "Enable Aero Peek" in performance window.
To get there follow these steps:
- Right Click on "My Computer"
- Click "Advanced system settings"
- Under "Performance" click "settings" button
- Find "Enable Aero Peek" and make sure it is checked
If for some reason you can not find Aero Peek than you will need to do some troubleshooting, follow below steps to fix the problem:
- Click "Start" button
- Go to "Control Panel"
- Under "System and Security" click "Find and fix problems"
- Under "Appearance and Personalization" click "Display Aero desktop effects"
- Click next and wait for troubleshooter to fix the issue.
