Video Memory

Your video memory represents one of the key factors for performance level, effects, resolution,
frame rate. Not only for game experience , it is imperative for many programs released these days to have decent graphic card for better experience.

Dedicated video memory
Plays the key role, that is your built in graphic card memory and it is not related to system memory (RAM). Graphic cards have they own RAM memory.
If it says 1GB dedicated memory that's your graphic card mem...

Shared video memory
Part of main memory (RAM) that is often used by integrated video cards to display frame buffers which temporary hold rendered content being sent to the screen.

Sharing main memory with display reduces the amount of available memory to other applications and it is not fast as dedicated video memory in stand-alone cards.

Total Available Graphics Memory
Maximum amount available to video, that is dedicated memory combined with system RAM available for your graphic card.

Memory comes in two main categories SDR (Single Data Rate) and DDR (Double Data Rate)
Double date rate transfers twice data per clock cycle. Stand-alone graphic cards have their own processor and by default windows will choose whether to use main processor or GPU processor.

RAM stands for Random Access Memory

To check your video card memory just right click on your desktop , chose screen resolution and than advanced settings. Following window with all info will appear:
